Artistic Director
Robin Bryant, founder and Artistic Director of HeartDance, studied modern dance for ten years with Master Teacher Gloria Newman (of NYC), and intensively with Ethel Winters, soloist with the Martha Graham Company, and Betty Jones, soloist with the Jose Limon Company. This training launched Robin's career, producing her own programs of dance, choreographies, workshops, master classes, concerts, and companies.
Robin's work expanded from California to Oregon, New England, Canada, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. For three years, Ms. Bryant taught and choreographed for the National Ballet of Zimbabwe, receiving honors for her contemporary ballets Listen! and Africa . Her approach to dance has opened people's hearts at numerous educational, business, health, spiritual, and dance conferences throughout the world.
HeartDance is Robin's third Oregon dance company. In the 1970's, Robin founded and directed the Rogue Dance Company, bringing performances to schools throughout Southern Oregon culminating with a packed house at Oregon Shakespeare Festivals, Bowmer Theater. In the early 1990's, she founded and was artistic director for Formations Dance Company, presenting an outstanding semi-professional contemporary dance company to Oregon.
Ms. Bryant is also director of Dancing the Heart, her teaching program in Southern Oregon where she offers all levels of modern technique and improvisational dance classes along with seasonal workshops. She embodies the intent of dance as both a healing art and a performance art.
